A Terex CTT 472-20t flat top tower crane has played a key role in the construction of Canada’s tallest residential skyscraper, reaching a final height of 348 metres on the landmark Pinnacle SkyTower development in Toronto.
Supplied by Cropac Equipment, the official Terex Tower Cranes dealer for Eastern Canada, the crane was sold to project contractor Premform and has supported construction activities on the 110 storey tower for the past four years.
Located on Toronto’s waterfront, SkyTower forms part of the ambitious Pinnacle One Yonge development and is set to become the tallest residential building in Canada upon completion.
“We are proud to have partnered with Premform from the earliest stages of the development by providing a lifting solution capable of supporting the project’s ambitious schedule and height requirements,” said Joel Hunt, Senior Sales Representative at Cropac Equipment.

To accommodate the increasing height of the structure, the crane was progressively climbed using an anchoring system comprising 16 internal ties. Cropac also supplied additional mast sections, tie collars and climbing components as part of the lifting package.
“Development of this scale requires lifting capacity, great tower versatility and the ability to adapt to evolving site conditions while maintaining high performance throughout every phase of construction,” added Joel Hunt.
The crane was configured with a 55 metre jib and a tip load capacity of 6.24 tonnes. Equipped with an 80 kW hoist, it offers a maximum lifting speed of 196 metres per minute, providing the performance required for material handling throughout the project.
The CTT 472-20t is scheduled to be dismantled during the third quarter of 2026 as construction nears completion.
Part of the wider Pinnacle One Yonge master planned community, SkyTower will include residential, hospitality and commercial space across 110 storeys, including a Le Méridien hotel located within the podium section of the development.
