Hutchinson Engineering has reported significant operational benefits following its transition to a standardised fleet of JLG powered access equipment supplied by Access Platform Sales.
The move forms part of a long-standing partnership between the two companies and was driven by a desire to improve transport efficiency, reliability and maintenance performance across Hutchinson Engineering’s operations.
Previously operating a mixed fleet that included Genie equipment, the company worked with APS on a phased transition to JLG machines after identifying opportunities to streamline fleet management and improve day-to-day logistics.
According to Hutchinson Engineering, the compact transport design of JLG equipment has reduced vehicle overhang, making loading, unloading and transportation between sites safer and more efficient. The company also cited improved serviceability and parts availability as key factors in reducing downtime and accelerating maintenance turnaround times.
Standardising on a single equipment platform has simplified operator training, fleet planning and long-term replacement strategies while improving consistency across projects.
The company also highlighted the durability of the JLG range, noting that serviceable components and a cost-effective body design have reduced repair complexity and strengthened overall fleet resilience.
APS supported the transition by providing fully prepared machines delivered on schedule, enabling Hutchinson Engineering to integrate new equipment without disruption to ongoing operations.
“The switch to JLG through APS has made a noticeable difference to how we operate,” said Dan Board of Hutchinson Engineering. “Transport is easier, the machines are more practical on site, and everything just feels more efficient. It’s helped us run the business more smoothly.”
The companies said the partnership will continue to focus on improving fleet performance, operational efficiency and equipment availability in the years ahead.
