Ned Marine Launches NDT Drones

Ned Marine has expanded its inspection capabilities with the launch of new drone and remotely operated vehicle services for non destructive testing applications across the maritime, offshore and industrial sectors.

The Dutch inspection specialist now offers aerial drone and subsea ROV inspections designed to improve safety, reduce operational downtime and deliver faster inspection results for vessels, offshore installations and industrial assets both above and below water.

The new service allows Ned Marine to carry out visual inspections and ultrasonic thickness measurements in difficult to access areas without relying on scaffolding, rope access or diving operations. Applications include ballast tanks, cargo holds, storage facilities, industrial structures and offshore and onshore wind turbines.

According to the company, drone based inspections can reduce inspection times by up to four times compared with traditional methods while significantly lowering operational costs. The approach also minimises exposure to hazardous environments and reduces disruption for vessel operators, particularly within the container and tanker sectors.

Alongside aerial inspections, Ned Marine has introduced subsea NDT inspections using ROVs capable of operating at depths of up to 300 metres. The technology provides a cost effective alternative to diving operations and supports hull inspections, cathodic protection assessments, structural condition monitoring and pre docking surveys.

Leo Zwagemaker, Commercial Manager at Ned Marine, said the integration of drone and ROV technologies into the company’s NDT portfolio allows customers to reduce downtime and improve maintenance planning through real time remote inspection data accessible worldwide.

The new services are fully integrated into Ned Marine’s wider NDT offering, which includes visual testing, ultrasonic thickness measurements and detailed reporting, providing customers with a comprehensive overview of asset condition and operational integrity.
