Drydocks World has completed the full conversion and integration of the EMEM Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, marking a major milestone for Nigeria’s Okwok field and the country’s drive toward energy independence.

A sailaway ceremony was held on 8 November at Drydocks World’s Dubai facility, attended by key dignitaries including Captain Rado Antolovic, PhD, CEO of Drydocks World; Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Oil; and Dr. Muhammadu Indimi, Chairman of Oriental Energy Resources Limited (OERL).

Commissioned by World Carrier Corporation on behalf of OERL, the EMEM FPSO underwent extensive structural modifications, marine system upgrades, and the integration of 19 topside production and utility modules. The project transformed a former oil tanker into a state-of-the-art offshore production unit.

The EMEM FPSO represents a powerful convergence of global engineering excellence and local ambition,” said Captain Antolovic. “It reflects our commitment to delivering world-class offshore infrastructure while supporting Nigeria’s sustainable energy growth.”

Once operational in early 2026, the FPSO will process up to 70,000 barrels of liquids per day, handle around 15 million standard cubic feet of gas daily, and store up to one million barrels of crude oil. Designed for continuous operation for up to 15 years without drydocking, it will play a key role in Nigeria’s offshore Petroleum Mining Lease 15.
