Multisec has designed, manufactured, and tested a custom multi-point lifting beam system for Enshore Subsea, enhancing the company’s offshore cable handling capabilities.

The bespoke Joint Over Boarding Beam was engineered to meet Enshore’s exact specifications, providing a versatile and durable solution for complex subsea lifting operations. With a safe working load of 35 tonnes, a 15.5-metre span, and 16 lower lift points, the beam allows for varied load configurations in challenging marine conditions.

Fabricated and proof load tested at Durham Lifting’s Britannia Testhouse in Middlesbrough, the beam was certified to Eurocode, DNV-ST-0378, and BS EN 13155 standards. Multisec also supplied a complete rigging package — including Green Pin Tapered Pin ROV Shackles, wire ropes, slings, chains, and cable grips — ensuring full traceability and offshore readiness.

Henry Jemison, Package Manager at Enshore Subsea, praised the collaboration: “Multisec owned the challenge from the start, delivering the beam to specification, within budget, and ahead of schedule. It performed flawlessly on its first offshore use.”

The lifting beam was first deployed on the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, located 15 km off the Angus coast. The 1.1 GW project will power roughly half of Scotland’s homes once operational.

Amanda Gardiner, Managing Director at Multisec, said the partnership showcased the company’s engineering precision: “Working closely with Enshore’s team from concept to testing ensured seamless delivery and first-time offshore success.”
