Boskalis has strengthened its logistics capabilities at its Central Distribution Center (CDC) in Vlaardingen with the addition of a new Tadano GR-1000EX-4 rough terrain crane. The handover, carried out in early September by Tadano Sales Manager Richard Beenen, marks a significant upgrade to Boskalis’ lifting fleet.
For 23 years, the CDC relied on a Tadano GR-600EXL to manage heavy loads ranging from pumps and containers to oversized machinery destined for global projects. The new GR-1000EX-4 now brings greater lifting capacity, enhanced safety systems, and operator-focused features to support increasingly complex logistics demands.
Equipped with a 50.9-meter full power main boom — the longest in the 100-tonne class — the GR-1000EX-4 combines reach and versatility within a compact footprint. Its Cummins engine, additional counterweight, tilting cabin, and innovative step-converting side ladder further improve performance, safety, and ease of operation.
Chris van Wijk, Logistics Manager at Boskalis, praised Tadano’s reliability: “Our previous Tadano crane served us for more than two decades. That proven quality was one of the key reasons we chose Tadano again. With the GR-1000EX-4, we are confident we can continue to work safely and efficiently for many years to come.”
