On the southern shore of Lake Tegernsee, one of Germany’s largest tourism developments is taking shape. By 2028, the “Seegut am Tegernsee” will be completed in Bad Wiessee, spanning a 35,000 m² site with 25 buildings, including a hotel, restaurant, and cultural barn, as well as a 20,000 m² underground level.
Construction company Pöttinger Bauunternehmung is relying on three Wolffkran tower cranes to realise the ambitious project. Two WOLFF 8540.20 Cross cranes managed the heaviest lifting at the start, while a new WOLFF 8038.20 Clear later joined the fleet. One of the 8540.20 Cross cranes, equipped with an 80-metre jib and a hook height of 55.5 metres, has already completed its work, been dismantled, and sold to a new Wolffkran customer in Romania.

The remaining 8540.20 Cross and 8038.20 Clear, both featuring 80-metre jibs and 33-metre hook heights, will remain in service until 2026.
Built with ecological timber and hybrid construction methods, and heated and cooled using thermal water from the lake, Seegut is considered a flagship for sustainable tourism in Germany.

“It is rewarding to see that our cranes here are not just moving materials but are part of a project that will shape the region,” said Wolfgang Kavelius, Sales Manager at Wolffkran GmbH. “We are able to offer our customer a powerful and economical solution while helping to build a piece of the future.”
