The Port of Thisvi, a key industrial hub in Greece, will expand its cargo handling capacity with the addition of a Konecranes Gottwald ESP.7 Mobile Harbor Crane. The order was placed in Q2 2025, with delivery and commissioning scheduled for early 2026.
Situated in the Thisvi Industrial Area, the port serves the country’s steel and aluminum industries. Raw materials are imported for processing, while finished products, including coated steel pipes, are exported to markets in Europe, the Caspian region, and the Middle East & Africa.
The new Generation 6 crane will operate alongside two older Gottwald models already in service. Designed for motor grab use, it offers a 51-meter working radius and a 125-ton lifting capacity. Connected to a 20 kV external power supply, the crane runs with zero local exhaust emissions, while reducing noise and vibrations compared with diesel-powered equipment.
“Our cargo mix and the port’s characteristics demand cranes that are versatile and reliable. Konecranes has consistently provided the performance we need. With the new electrified unit, we can increase capacity while improving eco-efficiency,” said Tasos Kaipis, Procurement & Logistics Manager at DIA.VI.PE.THI.V. S.A.
The order also includes TRUCONNECT remote monitoring, giving operators access to real-time data on usage and condition to support maintenance planning and minimize downtime.
“The shift to electrification is advancing worldwide. By adopting a Generation 6 crane, Thisvi is preparing for cleaner and quieter operations,” added Alexandros Stogianidis, Regional Sales Manager, Konecranes Port Solutions.
