Wolffkran has secured a major contract to provide the complete tower crane package for Saudi Arabia’s Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium, part of the prestigious Qiddiya giga-project. Officially announced on May 28 at the Ritz-Carlton in Riyadh, the project marks a significant milestone for Wolffkran and Qiddiya Investment Company.
The stadium is set to become a national landmark and will host matches during the 2034 FIFA World Cup. To tackle the demanding architecture and extreme engineering requirements, Wolffkran will deploy 21 tower cranes, including eight WOLFF 1250 B, nine WOLFF 630 B, three WOLFF 7534 Clear, and one WOLFF 8038 Clear — with the possibility of further expansion. Notably, one WOLFF 1250 B and two WOLFF 630 B cranes will reach over 100 meters freestanding, making them the tallest in Saudi Arabia.
To meet the unique height and wind challenges, Wolffkran developed a new 3.3-meter-wide, 6-meter-tall tower element, the WOLFF XT 33, enabling safe operation in extreme conditions.
Wolffkran’s scope goes beyond supplying cranes. The company will handle planning, transport, on-site logistics, assembly, disassembly, and crane operation. Approximately 180 specialists will work on-site during peak phases, ensuring seamless execution. Each crane will be equipped with operator hoists and WOLFF Link technology for real-time monitoring and proactive maintenance.
The project supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aiming to transform national infrastructure. “We are proud to contribute to this ambitious initiative and help shape the Kingdom’s future,” said Duncan Salt, CEO of Wolffkran Holding AG.
