One significant development on the horizon for Fast Lines Belgium is their recent contract with Damen Shipyards for the delivery of two Combi Freighters 3850. These vessels will fly the Belgian flag, marking a significant step in their journey toward a more sustainable and environmentally conscious approach.
Before finalizing their order with Damen Shipyards, Fast Lines Belgium’s ship management conducted a comprehensive review of options to reduce emissions economically. This included exploring alternative biofuels and the latest advancements in design and efficiency. The Damen Combi Freighters 3850 presented itself as the best solution to navigate the energy transition crossroads.
These new vessels boast the lowest EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) in the short-sea cargo vessel market. “These will be our first new-build vessels, and we are confident that the Damen CF 3850 vessels will fit perfectly with Fast Lines Belgium’s business,” said Managing Director Catrien Scheers. “Not only are they economical and efficient, but our customers will also see how low their fuel consumption and emissions are, giving us a valuable commercial advantage.”
