Tug Network Team names new director

5/5 - (1 vote)

Tug Network Team has appointed Felipe Gouvêa as Executive Director, marking a key step in the alliance’s transition towards a more structured international platform.

Launched in the Americas in 2024 and recently expanded into Europe, the alliance is entering a new phase focused on stronger commercial alignment, governance and service standards across its growing network.

Gouvêa brings extensive maritime experience, having previously served as CEO of Sulnorte and held senior roles across shipping, chartering, port operations and strategy. He was also involved in the early development of Tug Network Team and now returns as the alliance moves from concept into execution.

Today, the network connects towage operators across 113 ports in 13 countries, representing a combined fleet of more than 200 tugs. The appointment underlines its ambition to offer a credible alternative in an increasingly consolidated towage market.

Jean-Philippe Brunet said Gouvêa’s industry knowledge and understanding of market dynamics would support the alliance’s next stage of development and strengthen collaboration between members.

In his new role, Gouvêa will focus on enhancing commercial performance, aligning service standards and supporting further expansion, while ensuring new members meet strict criteria on neutrality, reputation and operational fit.

Gouvêa said the alliance is built on the principle that independent operators can achieve more together while retaining local strengths. He added that the next phase will centre on stronger execution through clearer governance and closer coordination.

Members of the alliance, including Gouvêa, will attend the International Tug & Salvage Convention 2026 in Gothenburg on 19 to 21 May, where they will engage with customers and partners as the network continues to expand its global presence.
