Sarens is carrying out key lifting operations for the modernization of the Phu My Fertilizer Plant in Vietnam as part of the Phu My Fertilizer Turnaround 2025–2026 programme, aimed at ensuring stable fertilizer production for the region’s agricultural sector. The project focuses on replacing critical equipment and maintaining operational reliability at the facility near Ho Chi Minh City.
Drawing on previous collaboration with the client, Sarens delivered specialized engineering solutions to address complex site conditions, including limited working space and flammable surroundings. For the operation, the company deployed its CC6800 crawler crane fitted with a 78-metre SSL configuration, chosen for its high lifting capacity and manoeuvrability in confined environments.
The crane was transported by road from a prior project and assembled on site within a week. The lifting scope included plant components weighing up to 106 tonnes individually and 115.6 tonnes in total, handled at an operating radius of 23 metres. The operation involved an upending manoeuvre using the main crawler crane and tailing support, followed by slewing into final position. More than 10 Sarens specialists worked over a month in challenging weather conditions to complete the shutdown works on schedule.
The project takes place as Vietnam continues to expand its chemical and petrochemical sectors, supported by new legislation such as the Chemicals Law 2025, which comes into force in January 2026. The regulation aims to attract investment, strengthen safety standards and support sustainable industrial growth.
