Petrodec is using Enerpac ETR115 SP trolley systems to improve heavy lifting and storage work aboard its offshore vessel Obana.

The trolleys are the moving part of a deck transfer system with a 2000 tonne capacity. The setup also includes large steel grillage units used to carry decommissioned offshore platform structures. By moving several loads in one operation, the system makes better use of available deck space and reduces handling time.

Twenty Enerpac trolleys are in operation, each rated at 115 tonnes. Every unit is fitted with a hydraulic cylinder with a 200 mm stroke to lift and lower loads. Platform components are placed onto grillage units using the vessel’s Liebherr MTC 78000 crane. The trolley cylinders then raise the grillage so it can travel along deck tracks to one of five storage areas.

Once in position, the grillage is secured and the cylinders are retracted, allowing the trolleys to be reused. A master control unit manages synchronised movement, while operators use a wireless remote to oversee operations across the deck. Two Enerpac EVO systems control synchronous lifting, offering smoother and faster travel than traditional skidding methods.
