Floatel International has chosen Semco Maritime’s Hanøytangen facility near Bergen, Norway, to carry out major drydocking, modification and energy optimisation work on the Floatel Endurance accommodation rig ahead of its next assignment on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Once the rig completes its current project in Canada, it will cross the Atlantic and arrive at Hanøytangen in the first quarter of 2026.
The Hanøytangen yard is one of the region’s most capable offshore service hubs, equipped with a 125-by-130-metre dry dock, deepwater quays up to 90 metres and heavy-lift cranes supporting complex repair and upgrade operations. Integrated engineering, project management and yard services enable Semco Maritime to deliver comprehensive lifecycle support for offshore units, from major conversions to compliance projects.
The upcoming scope of work for Floatel Endurance includes thruster removal and overhaul, hull treatment and repainting, as well as upgrades to galley and accommodation areas. A key part of the project will be the installation of a Selective Catalytic Reduction system combined with Diesel Oxidation Catalyst technology to improve energy performance and cut emissions.
These enhancements form part of Semco Maritime’s wider focus on supporting the offshore sector’s transition toward cleaner operations, aligned with Norway’s target to halve emissions from offshore rigs by 2030.
“We are very pleased that Floatel International has chosen Semco Maritime Hanøytangen for this important project,” said Simon Wall of Semco Maritime. “With strong in-house engineering and an efficient execution plan, we are ready to deliver on schedule and support Floatel in preparing for future operations.”
