To mark the 30th anniversary of the Kamag PrecisionMover (formerly known as the Wiesel), TII Kamag is celebrating its successful, decades-long partnership with leading logistics company Dachser — the pioneer of the swap body.
Introduced in 1995, the Kamag PrecisionMover revolutionised yard logistics as one of the first series-produced swap body transporters. Known for its flexibility, reliability, and efficiency, it quickly became a benchmark in the logistics industry. Dachser, which has relied on the PrecisionMover for many years, uses the vehicles to handle swap bodies efficiently across its German depots.

Dachser’s invention of the swap body in the 1970s, inspired by U.S. Army containers, fundamentally changed freight handling. Introduced in 1971 by Thomas Simon, son-in-law of company founder Thomas Dachser, the swap body’s standardised dimensions and support legs allowed quick vehicle changes, minimising downtime and increasing productivity — principles that continue to define modern logistics.
Today, the partnership continues to evolve with the introduction of the fully electric KAMAG ePrecisionMover, already in operation at Dachser sites in Hamburg and Erlensee. The emission-free vehicle improves sustainability and reduces noise levels at depots.
In addition, the companies jointly advanced automation through the SAFE20 research project, completed in 2024, which developed safety concepts for autonomous yard vehicles.
