The Langley Event Centre in British Columbia is undergoing a major CAD$149 million expansion that will add 260,000 sq. ft. of new space, including three ice rinks—one with seating for 1,000 spectators—and two dry-floor arenas designed for sports such as hockey and lacrosse. The project, scheduled for completion in September 2026, also includes a full underground car park and forms part of the 200 Street Corridor’s “The Hub” development plan.
Sarens, a global leader in heavy lifting and engineered transport, has been contracted to deliver critical lifting operations for the project. The company is handling the installation of steel structures, roof and wall panels, and rebar, with some lifts reaching up to 18,000 lbs at a 310-foot radius and 70-foot height.

To execute the work in the project’s confined and congested environment, Sarens deployed a range of equipment from its Surrey fleet, including an LR1400 crawler crane with a 79-foot main boom and 256-foot luffing jib, an LTM1400 with Y-Guys and full counterweights, an LTM1160 with 118-foot jib, an LTM1095, along with rough terrain cranes and a 55-ton boom truck.
“This project has been a significant challenge for our team,” said Brett Allen, Sarens Key Account Manager. “Working surrounded by tower cranes in a tight environment has tested our planning and precision, but we are proud to contribute to a project that will have such a strong impact on the local community.”
