Huisman has signed a significant contract with Greek shipowner Capital Offshore for the delivery of four advanced Knuckle Boom Cranes. These cranes will be installed on a series of new platform supply vessels (PSVs), currently being built at the Fujian Mawei shipyard. Designed by MMC, the vessels are slated for operations in the Brazilian offshore market.

Each crane boasts a lifting capacity of 100 metric tonnes and is engineered to perform in water depths of up to 3,000 meters, meeting the rigorous demands of offshore energy operations.

A standout feature of the cranes is Huisman’s proprietary Active Heave Compensation (AHC) system. By connecting the crane’s electric configuration to the vessel’s DC grid, the AHC system enables smooth integration with the onboard electrical energy storage. This smart energy management results in a substantial reduction in the net energy consumption of offshore lifting activities.

The cranes will also be integrated with the vessels’ Kongsberg-designed power grid, enhancing energy efficiency and maximizing operational performance. This synergy is further amplified by Huisman’s energy recovery management system, ensuring a more sustainable and cost-effective offshore operation.

David Roodenburg, CEO of Huisman, commented on the partnership: “We are pleased to announce our new cooperation with Capital Offshore through this initial order, which marks an important milestone for us. We are proud to have earned Capital Offshore’s confidence in our capabilities. Our cranes are engineered to deliver exceptional performance and reliability in the most demanding offshore environments, and we look forward to supporting Capital Offshore in their operations. We see this as the start of a strong and lasting partnership, built on a shared commitment to quality, innovation, and operational excellence.”
