AMCS Technologies, in partnership with Manitowoc and Bouygues Construction, is proud to introduce ARC (Automatic Rotation Control), a solution that enhances both safety and productivity on multi-crane construction sites.

On complex construction sites where multiple cranes operate in close proximity, managing their interactions presents significant challenges. Currently, regulations require an operator to remain in any lower crane positioned within the interference zone of a taller crane, even if that crane is not in use. This approach adds unnecessary cost and logistical complications. ARC addresses this issue by allowing cranes to automatically orient themselves without manual intervention, ensuring optimal positioning based on interference zones, wind conditions, site activity, and real-time adjustments through AMCS’s anti-collision system.

When a crane is in standby or “weathervane” mode, ARC takes control, adjusting its rotation to avoid obstructing active cranes while ensuring its own safety. The system works in parallel with the DCS 61-S anti-collision technology, detecting and responding to obstacles in real time to prevent any risk of collision.

This innovation is the result of a close collaboration between AMCS Technologies, which developed and integrated ARC into its existing systems; Manitowoc, which ensured seamless integration with its Potain cranes; and Bouygues Construction, which contributed its field expertise during real-world testing. Importantly, ARC is not a proprietary solution but an open and interoperable technology, available for adoption across the entire construction industry.

Mohamed Chettibi, CEO of AMCS Technologies, describes ARC as a major step forward in crane automation, one that enhances safety, boosts efficiency, and reflects a shared commitment to innovation across the sector.
