The Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm has reached a major construction milestone with the installation of its final wind turbine, completed in the early hours of Monday, April 7, 2025.

Located 15.5 kilometres off the Fife coast, NnG spans approximately 105 square kilometres in the North Sea. Once the final stage of commissioning is completed, the project is expected to become fully operational this summer.

Jointly owned by EDF Renewables UK and Ireland and ESB, the wind farm consists of 54 turbines and will deliver around 450MW of clean energy—enough to power approximately 375,000 homes. In addition to boosting the UK’s renewable energy capacity, NnG is projected to offset roughly 400,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.

This milestone marks a key step forward in Scotland’s transition to a low-carbon energy future, underlining the region’s strategic role in offshore wind development.
