BMF Port Burgas AD, one of Bulgaria’s largest port operators, has ordered two Generation 6 Konecranes Gottwald ESP.9 Mobile Harbor Cranes, with delivery scheduled for Q4 2025.
The partnership between BMF and Konecranes began 12 years ago when the port operator acquired four pre-owned Konecranes Gottwald cranes. In 2016, BMF retrofitted two of these cranes with external power supplies, reducing emissions and operational costs. This successful upgrade was extended to the remaining cranes in 2021.
Now, BMF is investing in two brand-new ESP.9 cranes with a 150-tonne lifting capacity, equipped with external power supplies from the outset. The investment aligns with BMF’s electrification strategy, further enhancing handling capabilities for project cargo and containers.
Nikola Kosev, Project Manager at BMF, stated: “Our existing Konecranes equipment has proven reliable and efficient for over a decade. We are excited to invest in two new cranes, boosting our performance for larger vessels and heavier cargo.”
The new cranes will support BMF’s expansion plans, including a deep-water berth at Burgas West Terminal, strengthening its role as a key logistics provider in the Black Sea region.
Andreas Czwalinna, Regional Sales Manager at Konecranes, highlighted BMF’s growth:
“BMF’s journey from pre-owned cranes to Generation 6 models demonstrates successful growth. We’re proud to have supported them for over a decade.”
