deugro Germany has successfully transported three mobile harbor cranes and one portal crane from Rostock, Germany, to Brisbane and Port Kembla in Australia, as well as to Timaru and Port Nelson in New Zealand.
The shipment included cranes measuring up to 70.15 x 28.05 x 45.30 meters and weighing over 600 metric tons each, resulting in a total volume of 238,160 cubic meters and a combined weight exceeding 2,000 metric tons. Given the size and complexity of the cargo, deugro’s Chartering team selected the UHL Fable, a newly built F900 Eco-Lifter class vessel featuring an IMO Tier III-certified engine. This transport marked the vessel’s second ocean voyage.

“The biggest challenge was the complex loading and lashing arrangements for different crane types—two LHM 550s, an LPS 550, and an LHM 600—while optimizing the limited deck space for secure stowage,” said Christine Steenken, Head of Projects at deugro Germany.

To ensure the safe loading and securing of the cranes, deugro partnered with dteq Transport Engineering Solutions. Their team meticulously reviewed lifting plans, stowage layouts, and seafastening calculations. Engineers were present on-site to supervise the operations, while additional experts in the back office provided technical oversight.
