Africa Global Logistics (AGL) has signed a partnership agreement with Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Samudera Pelabuhan Indonesia to develop and operate the Patimban International Port. As the lead member, AGL aims to contribute to modernizing Indonesia’s logistics infrastructure on a global scale.
With Indonesia’s growing economy and increasing cargo volumes, the country faces a pressing need for enhanced port capacity. Located near Jakarta, the Patimban Port has been designed to alleviate congestion and improve trade efficiency. Co-financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project is expected to boost industrial development and strengthen Indonesia’s logistics connectivity.
The newly formed PT Patimban Global Gateway Terminal (PGT) will oversee operations under a 37-year partnership agreement. Initial operations, set for 2025, will focus on handling general cargo, while container operations will commence in 2026 with the arrival of gantry cranes.
Patimban Port’s handling capacity is expected to grow to over 3 million TEUs per year, making it Java’s second-largest port and a key driver of Indonesia’s economic expansion.
