For the first time, the European consumer safety organization Euro NCAP has evaluated heavy-duty trucks, and Volvo Trucks has emerged as a standout performer. The Volvo FH and Volvo FM models both earned the highest possible rating of five stars, with the Volvo FM achieving the best overall test score among all trucks assessed.
Both models were also honored with Euro NCAP’s prestigious City Safe award, recognizing their exceptional vision and advanced safety systems designed to protect vulnerable road users in urban environments.
“This outstanding result makes me so proud as it confirms Volvo Trucks’ leading position in safety,” said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. “Safety has been a core value for us since the company’s inception, and with every new product, we strive to make our trucks even safer.”
The five-star rating highlights Volvo’s excellence in critical safety areas, including driver support and collision avoidance systems. The assessment also measured performance in safe driving, collision prevention, and post-crash rescue information.
Anna Wrige Berling, Traffic and Product Safety Director at Volvo Trucks, emphasized the significance of these results: “This is proof of our consistent efforts to go beyond legal safety requirements toward our vision of zero accidents involving our trucks. Euro NCAP ratings will guide customers in their purchase decisions and encourage manufacturers to continuously enhance safety.”
