In partnership with SH Structures Ltd, the Collett team has accomplished the delivery of two wide bridge sections for the Tan House Footbridge project in Wokingham. Each section, measuring 26 meters and 27 meters in length and 4 meters in width, was transported flawlessly with the assistance of our in-house pilot vehicle fleet.

The journey began from SH Structures’ facility in Sherburn-in-Elmet, where the bridge sections were loaded onto 3-axle triple extendable trailers. After careful planning and site visits to strategize the route, which included the removal of street furniture such as traffic lights and road signs, the convoy made its way to Jack Tighes’ industrial coating facility in Doncaster.

Following loading at Doncaster, Collett transported the sections to Wokingham town center, navigating through challenging access points with a focus on daylight hours delivery. Close coordination with Balfour Beatty and Wokingham Borough Council ensured a controlled road closure for safety and efficiency.

In addition to the bridge sections, Collett delivered other components like bridge support columns and step units, aligning with the site construction schedule. Andrew King, Sales & Estimating Manager at SH Structures, praised Collett’s meticulous planning and coordination, emphasizing the timely arrival of deliveries to facilitate the structure’s installation within rail possession time constraints.
