In a significant move toward sustainable energy, Bolloré Energy secured a tender from EDF Archipel Guadeloupe in the last quarter of 2023. The company has delivered 300 m3 of B100 biofuel, branded as Koolza 100, from mainland France to the Guadeloupe archipelago.

This environmentally friendly fuel is derived from rapeseed oil sourced from French crops, reflecting a commitment to local and sustainable production. EDF is currently conducting tests on the fuel, anticipating a remarkable 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from the Jarry Sud thermal power plant.

Julien Hérou, Deputy Head of Supply at Bolloré Energy, expressed their dedication to supporting EDF in its energy transition. “When we responded to EDF’s call for tenders, our aim was to use our solutions to offer them the best possible support with their energy transition. With Koolza 100, we are reaffirming our goal of being a key stakeholder in alternative solutions so that together, we can decarbonise the entire energy sector (including fuels for road vehicles, power and heating). And as our first overseas delivery, this contract is also a milestone for Bolloré Energy. “

This overseas delivery, comprising 13 20-foot ISO tank containers loaded at the Valtris Champlor production site in Verdun, marks a significant milestone for Bolloré Energy. The journey from the port of Le Havre to Guadeloupe spanned 24 days, including 12 days at sea.
