Schultze Steel Service has strengthened its coil warehouse management at the Arcelor-Mittal factory in Bremen with the addition of two new Cometto MTH45 transport vehicles. These high-tech straddle carriers are a crucial part of a challenging project that began in 2019 and recently secured the contract.
Joachim Kolb, Sales Manager at Cometto, emphasized the collaborative effort during the preparatory phase, stating, “Our Design office showed what it is made of here. We started with virtually a blank piece of paper and came up with a high-tech straddle carrier.”
The Cometto MTH45, often referred to as the Ferrari among straddle carriers, boasts a top speed of 25 kilometers per hour, a tare weight of 43 tonnes, and a 500 HP diesel engine. Even with a payload of 45 tonnes and a total weight of 88 tonnes, it maintains an impressive speed of 10 kilometers per hour. The vehicle prioritizes maximum comfort for the driver, featuring a pneumatic seat and patented Cometto air suspension that filters out approximately 80 percent of extreme vibrations on uneven surfaces.
Frank-Peter Haase, works manager at Schultze Steel Service, expressed satisfaction after the installation of the first machine in Bremen, leading to the production of exclusive T-shirts as a token of appreciation for the Cometto team. The partnership has not only resulted in a successful project but also brought about a 30 percent reduction in fuel consumption compared to the previous equipment, coupled with additional savings on maintenance costs.
Joachim Kolb concluded, “The general rule at Cometto is ‘We say what we do and we do what we say.’ And that’s precisely what we put 100 percent into practice once again in this project.” The positive impact on efficiency and fuel consumption has positioned Schultze Steel Service to continue driving forward with Cometto as their trusted partner in the future.“
