Maxim Crane Works has embarked on a noteworthy initiative to remanufacture 14 of its Manitowoc 2250 crawler cranes. This ambitious project, in collaboration with Manitowoc and its EnCore division, represents one of the largest efforts of its kind and aligns with the strong demand in the rental crane market.

The overhaul work is currently taking place at MGX Equipment Services facilities in Belle Chasse and Birmingham, Alabama. The Manitowoc 2250 crawler cranes, renowned for their 300 USt capacity, hold a key position in the rental market, serving a variety of sectors, including data centers, e-commerce warehouses, petrochemical plants, infrastructure projects, and renewable energy endeavors.

Larry Lis, Vice President of Fleet at Maxim Crane Works, emphasized the economic advantages of remanufacturing these trusted cranes. “The Manitowoc 2250 is the only true 300 USt crawler crane on the market with the ideal cost-benefit tradeoff for rental work. We can have them remanufactured by Manitowoc and have great working cranes for another 12-15 years at a fraction of the cost of purchasing newer cranes,” Lis explained.

Moreover, the extensive experience and infrastructure Maxim Crane Works possesses for managing Manitowoc 2250s add further value to the remanufacturing project. Operators, mechanics, spare parts inventory, logistics, and regional expertise all contribute to the successful operation of these cranes.

The EnCore remanufacturing project is set to continue until 2026, remanufacturing 3-4 Manitowoc 2250s at a time, with the possibility of expansion if necessary. These refurbished cranes will find applications in both bare and operated rentals across the United States.

Maxim Crane Works looks forward to extending the life and value of the Manitowoc 2250s in its fleet, driven by a combination of economic prudence and their deep understanding of these cranes.
