Liebherr is delivering the first ten LTM 1110-5.2 cranes equipped with the advanced LICCON3 crane control to European customers. Following successful prototype testing, these cranes have entered series production. To enhance their development, Liebherr is using feedback from crane operators who have worked with these machines in real-world conditions.

Among the initial recipients is RIGA MAINZ, a crane and heavy haulage contractor. They took delivery of one of the first LTM 1110-5.2 cranes, highlighting the company’s commitment to pushing industry standards.

The LTM 1110-5.2, introduced in spring 2022, boasts the LICCON3 crane control, redesigned cabs, and fresh paintwork. After rigorous testing of several prototypes, Liebherr is now delivering the first ten units. These cranes come equipped with additional data loggers to monitor crane performance and address any issues that may arise.

RIGA MAINZ Managing Director, Kai Langer, emphasized the importance of participating in the development of new technologies like LICCON3 from the beginning. Their collaboration with Liebherr has been pivotal in enhancing crane control systems and adapting them to real-world needs.

David Traud, a crane operator at RIGA MAINZ, praised the new control system’s modern features and user-friendly design, highlighting the seamless transition from the previous LICCON2 system.

RIGA MAINZ, a fourth-generation family business, is preparing for a transition of leadership. Kai Langer, now the Commercial Director, has returned to the company after gaining experience outside. He will oversee Finance, Human Resources, IT, Marketing, and Business Development, contributing to the company’s strategic development.

RIGA MAINZ employs over 110 people and operates a diverse fleet of cranes and heavy transport units, including systems capable of moving up to 4,000 tonnes.
