Forkliftcenter Delivers Port Equipment to St Helena

Rate this post

The Port of Saint Helena has received vital new cargo handling equipment, strengthening the island’s ability to maintain its essential monthly supply chain.

International equipment supplier Forkliftcenter delivered a new Kalmar Reachstacker, a MAFI terminal tractor, trailers and accessories to Rupert’s Bay on the remote South Atlantic island. The project was funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and supported on site by Right Equipped Solutions, Forkliftcenter’s regional partner for Southern Africa.

Located around 1,200 miles from the African coast, Saint Helena relies heavily on its port, where ships carrying food, fuel and essential goods arrive only once a month. The arrival of the new equipment comes at a crucial time as the island’s previous reachstackers had become increasingly unreliable.

Following delivery, Right Equipped Solutions worked alongside the island’s Port Control and Government Garage teams to assemble, commission and service the equipment. Comprehensive operator and maintenance training was also provided to ensure long term operational reliability.

“St Helena represents the 150th country to receive equipment from Forkliftcenter, making this a particularly proud moment for our team,” said Adriaan Vos, Managing Director Americas at Forkliftcenter. “Working alongside Right Equipped Solutions and the Government of St Helena, we have shown how strong partnerships can overcome even the most remote logistical challenges.”

“Delivering equipment to one of the world’s most remote islands requires trusted partnerships, technical expertise and long term commitment,” added Henner Rodenwoldt, Managing Member of Right Equipped. “We are proud to have worked alongside Forkliftcenter and the Government of St Helena to deliver a solution that will strengthen port operations and support the island’s future growth.”

The Saint Helena Government welcomed the investment, highlighting the benefits for cargo handling efficiency and operational resilience. The project is expected to improve the reliability of the island’s supply lifeline while supporting future infrastructure and logistics development.
