Terminal de Contenedores de Yucatán, S.A. de C.V. (APM Terminals Yucatán) has placed an order for two Konecranes Gottwald ESP.7 Mobile Harbor Cranes to support the modernization and capacity expansion of Puerto Progreso, Mexico. The order was booked in Q4 2025, with delivery scheduled for the end of September 2026.

Puerto Progreso is the main maritime gateway of the Yucatán Peninsula, providing a key link between the region’s textile and manufacturing industries and the United States. As the port’s only dedicated container terminal, APM Terminals Yucatán plays a vital role in supporting foreign trade across southern Mexico. The new crane investment forms a major part of an ongoing long-term infrastructure development program.

Our terminal is advancing through a significant long-term investment program, and these two cranes represent important milestones along that path,” said Victor Peter Konen, Managing Director and COO of APM Terminals Yucatán, noting the company’s positive experience with earlier-generation Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbor cranes.

Each ESP.7 unit is tailored to local operational requirements, including a 10-axle chassis instead of the standard 7-axle design, plus oversized propping pads (2 × 2.0 m × 5.4 m) to address limited quay loadings while maintaining full performance.

To support the terminal’s decarbonization strategy, the cranes are also equipped with external power supply capability via a 150-meter 13.2 kV cable reel, enabling fully electric operation and zero tailpipe emissions.
