LGH Australia has expanded its specialist lifting and moving fleet with the addition of its first Hydra-Slide hydraulic skidding system, strengthening its ability to deliver complex heavy-moving projects across Australia.
The investment marks a significant milestone for LGH Australia as it continues to develop a premium specialist fleet for contractors operating in constrained, high-risk environments. Hydra-Slide technology provides a safe, precise, and efficient method for moving heavy loads in situations where conventional lifting or skidding approaches may be impractical or create unnecessary risk.
Tony Fiscelli, President of LGH North America, said LGH has partnered with Hydra-Slide for more than a decade and has supported numerous critical heavy-moving projects across industries including power generation, oil and gas, and infrastructure. He noted that Hydra-Slide systems have consistently proven reliable, safe, and efficient, particularly in projects requiring controlled movement of transformers, heavy machinery, and structural components in confined spaces. Fiscelli added that combining LGH rental expertise with Hydra-Slide engineering innovation has enabled performance-focused turnkey solutions, helping reduce risk, meet tight timelines, and achieve successful outcomes on complex jobs.
He also highlighted that Hydra-Slide systems are trusted for their precise controlled movement, low-profile design for tight spaces, and hydraulic technology that ensures smooth and predictable handling. Built for durability and operational simplicity, the systems reduce downtime and support safer heavy industrial moves.
The introduction of the Hydra-Slide XLP150 comes as demand increases in Australia for safer and more efficient methods of moving large equipment in confined environments. As infrastructure, energy, and industrial projects become more complex, contractors are increasingly seeking solutions that improve control, reduce risk, and minimise downtime. With a push capacity of up to 227 tonnes, the Hydra-Slide XLP150 enables controlled incremental movement of heavy equipment where traditional methods may be impractical or introduce additional hazards.
Hadley Price, LGH Australia Representative, said the decision to invest early in hydraulic skidding capability reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the Australian market. He explained that LGH Australia has initially focused on core equipment lines and, given the continued growth and success of hydraulic skidding solutions internationally, the company identified the technology as an early strategic priority for Australia. Price added that the approach aligns with LGH’s focus on providing the right equipment for each job and supporting the market through increased awareness of the safety and efficiency benefits of hydraulic skidding.
Price also noted that outside heavy haulage and transport companies, hire options for hydraulic skidding systems in Australia remain limited, with many available solutions often being custom-fabricated and carrying potential drawbacks. By providing an off-the-shelf Hydra-Slide system, LGH Australia aims to offer proven reliability, manufacturer support, rapid implementation, and clearly defined operational capability.
The Hydra-Slide hydraulic skidding system is available for hire from LGH Australia’s Somersby facility, with nationwide availability to support projects across the country.
