AAL Shipping (AAL) has been named Cargo Operator of the Year at the inaugural Asia Pacific Supply Chain Excellence Awards in Singapore, recognising the company’s innovative Super B-Class fleet and delivery of high-profile global projects.
The award acknowledges the launch of six 32,000 dwt Super B-Class vessels, featuring methanol-ready engines, 700-tonne heavy lift capacity, over 40,000 cbm of cargo space, and the patented ECO-DECK system. Together, these advancements set new benchmarks for transporting oversized and complex cargo while reducing environmental impact.
Accepting the award, Teck Liong Liew, CFO of AAL, said: “This award recognises the ingenuity of our Super B-Class design and the trust placed in us by our partners. It is also a tribute to the dedication of our global teams, at sea and onshore, who continually deliver complex projects safely, reliably, and sustainably.”
Judges highlighted the record-breaking maiden voyage of the AAL Limassol, which carried more than 89,000 freight tonnes across multiple sectors. The mixed cargo included 55-metre-long columns for DB Schenker, two barges weighing up to 1,650 tonnes, and 15 wind turbine blades.
Other standout projects included the transport of four 135-metre-long barges with MCSI Rotterdam, a 6,200-tonne shipment enabled by the AAL Hamburg’s ECO-DECK, and the delivery of three fully assembled Konecranes Gottwald ESP 10 mobile harbour cranes to Mexico and Chile using a pioneering open-hatch configuration.
