CY Shipping and BigLift Shipping are to expand their combined Heavy Transport Vessels (HTVs) fleet to eight as two additional BC-Class vessels are being ordered. The first is scheduled for delivery in Q1 2028, and the second in Q3 2028.

Like in the original BC-Class ships, construction will take place at China’s Jing Jiang Nanyang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. The new vessels, developed in joint collaboration between CY Shipping and BigLift, demonstrate the two companies’ close collaboration and continued focus on innovation in heavy transport.

Specifically designed to serve ultra-large modular cargoes internationally, the BC-Class is assured of service speed reliability, lower accelerations, and efficient loading as well as discharging operations. The vessels are fully interchangeable with BigLift’s MC-Class ships—the BigLift Barentsz and the BigLift Baffin—with longer decks as well as higher stern-loading capability.

The lengths of each of the ships are 180 meters, beam is 43 meters, and 6,020 m² of free deck area. The ships have a deadweight of 25,000 metric tons, 12-meter depth, and 12,000 m³/hr high-volume ballast system, ensuring robust performance in complex transportation projects.

The introduction of the BC-Class vessels shows our collaborative strategy together with BigLift Shipping to set a new standard in heavy transport,” said James Jung, Director, CY Shipping. BigLift’s Commercial Director, Johan Boer, said: “With these four BC-Class vessels, we are bringing reliability, flexibility, and a uniform standard of excellence to our global service portfolio.”
