Bridgestone Corporation and Komatsu Ltd. have launched a proof of concept (PoC) to enhance mining operations through real-time data integration from Bridgestone’s iTrack tire monitoring system and Komatsu’s Komtrax Plus vehicle monitoring system.
The initiative, tested on Komatsu mining trucks at a customer site, aims to improve fuel efficiency and extend tire life by analyzing haul road conditions, vehicle usage patterns, and tire specifications. By combining expertise, both companies seek to minimize operational downtime and unexpected tire failures.
“This partnership allows us to create new customer value and enhance mining safety and productivity,” said Nobuyuki Tamura, Executive Vice President at Bridgestone. Komatsu’s Executive Officer, Shingo Hori, added, “By merging our machinery expertise with Bridgestone’s tire technology, we are delivering innovative solutions beyond what either company could achieve alone.”
The collaboration supports lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and reduced CO2 emissions by optimizing fuel consumption and tire longevity.
