Van Oord’s subsidiary MPI Offshore has signed a three-year framework agreement with Vattenfall for the charter of the MPI Resolution, an offshore installation vessel. The vessel will be dedicated to maintaining Vattenfall’s wind turbines, which have a maximum output of 5 MW, across Northern Europe.

This contract ensures the availability of the MPI Resolution for key maintenance periods, particularly from March to October. By boosting maintenance efficiency, the vessel will help increase fossil-free electricity generation from Vattenfall’s offshore turbines.

The MPI Resolution, the world’s first vessel purpose-built for offshore wind installation, has been integral to Van Oord’s operations. This contract follows a previous four-year agreement between the two companies, strengthening their strategic partnership in the offshore wind sector.

We are pleased to deepen our relationship with Van Oord and enhance our O&M efforts,” said Pavlo Malyshenko, Head of Offshore Generation at Vattenfall.
