Dubai-based Drydocks World and Aker Solutions have signed a pre-commitment agreement to deliver two offshore renewable energy platforms for Vattenfall’s Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone development in the UK. The collaboration focuses on engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) offshore substation, aiming to set new standards in sustainable energy solutions.

The Norfolk Vanguard West and East wind energy platforms represent a significant milestone for Drydocks World in renewable energy development. Aker Solutions will handle substructure fabrication in Verdal, Norway, while Drydocks World’s shipyard in Dubai will undertake the topside fabrication.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, emphasizes the strategic importance of the Norfolk Vanguard projects, highlighting Drydocks World’s commitment to shaping the future energy landscape. The collaboration builds on Drydocks World’s successful track record in delivering major renewable projects, including HVDC and HVAC platforms in the North Sea.

Capt. Rado Antolovic, CEO of Drydocks World, views the partnership with Aker Solutions as a significant move toward sustainable energy solutions. The Norfolk Offshore Wind Zone projects are expected to showcase the companies’ capabilities in executing complex endeavors, solidifying their leadership in the maritime solutions sector.
