The JSI Alliance has completed a complex loading operation in China, showcasing how smart vessel configuration can optimise capacity in offshore wind logistics.
The operation, carried out in Penglai, China, involved the loading of windmill pile sections for Siemens Gamesa onto the heavy lift vessel Fairpartner, which is now en route to Esbjerg, Denmark.
A key feature of the shipment was the use of tweendecks—referred to as fly decks—which extended the vessel’s available deck space. By increasing the effective width, the team was able to load an additional full set of windmill pile sections, maximising cargo efficiency for the voyage.
Captured by Flying Focus Aerial Photography, the operation highlights the importance of vessel adaptability in handling oversized offshore wind components. Such flexibility is increasingly critical as turbine sizes continue to grow and logistics challenges become more complex.
The project was delivered through close coordination between Siemens, the JSI site team, and local stevedores. Careful planning and execution ensured the safe and efficient handling of the cargo throughout the operation.
Now sailing towards Denmark, the shipment represents another example of how collaboration and technical innovation are supporting the global expansion of offshore wind energy infrastructure.
