Marraffa Completes First Bridge Lift with Enerpac System

Marraffa SRL has completed its first bridge project using the Enerpac JS-250 jack-up system, installing a railway bridge on the Napoli–Bari high-speed line in southern Italy.

The project involved positioning a 65-metre-long bridge deck weighing more than 600 tonnes over a 30-metre-wide river between Amorosi and Melizzano, in the province of Benevento.

Using four JS-250 towers, two at each end, Marraffa lifted the structure approximately four metres before placing it on temporary supports. A hydraulic gantry system was then used to move the deck laterally into its final position on the bridge piers.

According to the company, the jack-up system offered a more efficient solution than conventional cranes, particularly given the river span. The technology ensured the load remained level throughout the lift, simplifying the final positioning phase.

The Enerpac JS-Series system uses synchronized hydraulic lifting across multiple towers, allowing heavy loads to be raised incrementally while maintaining stability and control.
