Cemex deploys electric cranes in Paris

Rate this post

Cemex France has introduced fully electric material handlers at its Point du Jour site in Paris, marking a significant step toward sustainable urban logistics. The project, delivered in partnership with SYGMAT, the exclusive distributor of Sennebogen equipment in France, includes the deployment of Sennebogen 835M Series G and 830M Series E machines.

Operating since 1972, the Point du Jour terminal is a key construction logistics hub, handling around 300,000 tonnes of materials annually. Located in a dense urban area, the site faces strict environmental constraints, including proximity to residential zones and the need to reduce noise and emissions.

The new electric machines address these challenges by offering zero-emission operations and significantly reduced noise levels while maintaining performance comparable to diesel-powered equipment. With outreach capabilities of up to 18 metres and wheeled mobility, the handlers are well suited for loading and unloading barges along the Seine.

The initiative aligns with Cemex France’s broader sustainability strategy, including its target of carbon neutrality by 2050 and ongoing efforts to cut transport-related emissions. The company also has extensive expertise in river logistics, supported by a fleet of barges operating across the Seine basin.

According to Cemex, the introduction of electric handling equipment improves operational efficiency while enhancing local acceptance through reduced environmental impact. The machines are equipped with advanced control systems and ergonomic features, ensuring both precision and operator comfort.

This project demonstrates how electrification can transform construction logistics in urban environments, setting new standards for efficiency and sustainability.
