Cavotec has secured an order worth approximately €3 million to supply shore power systems for several ports in southern Italy, further strengthening its presence in the Mediterranean market.
The contract includes the delivery of multiple shore power technologies, including PowerFeed, PowerReach and PowerMove systems. These solutions will enable a wide range of vessels, such as cruise ships, container ships and RoRo vessels, to connect to onshore electricity while at berth.
By allowing ships to shut down their onboard diesel generators during port stays, the systems will significantly reduce emissions, contributing to improved air quality in port areas. The deployment also supports broader efforts to decarbonise maritime operations and meet increasingly strict environmental regulations.
Cavotec highlighted that demand for shore power infrastructure continues to grow as ports and shipping operators seek sustainable solutions to reduce their environmental footprint.
The company’s CEO, David Pagels, noted that the order reflects both Cavotec’s strong position in the region and the accelerating transition toward cleaner port operations across the Mediterranean.
