Japanese heavy lifting and engineering specialist Denzai K.K. has signed a memorandum of understanding with Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S to explore new opportunities in offshore wind development in Japan and the Asia Pacific region.
The agreement was signed on March 9, 2026 during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Tokyo. The event took place in the presence of State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Kenji Yamada and gathered representatives from several government bodies and regional authorities, including officials from Denmark, Fukuoka Prefecture, Kitakyushu City, Hokkaido, Muroran City, Akita Prefecture and Akita City. Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Japan Jarl Frijs-Madsen also attended the signing ceremony alongside Vestas Japan Country Manager Raphael Huot and Denzai President and CEO Kohki Uemura.
Under the agreement, Denzai and Vestas will work together to pursue engineering and construction related opportunities linked to wind energy projects. The cooperation will focus on engineering services, heavy lifting operations, crane placement planning, crane services and construction activities associated with wind power installations.
Denzai said the partnership aims to support the growing offshore wind sector in Japan while strengthening the competitiveness of projects across the region. Offshore wind has become a key pillar of the country’s energy transition strategy as Japan moves toward its national carbon neutrality targets.
Uemura noted that working with one of the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturers will help optimise offshore wind projects in Japan and across Asia Pacific. Masahiro Yoshida, executive vice president and chief strategy officer at Denzai, added that the company’s expertise in heavy machinery and logistics will support the sustainable expansion of the wind power industry in the region.
