DP World has launched operations at its first contract logistics warehouse in Türkiye, located in Balçık in the northwest of the country. The new facility strengthens the company’s supply chain services along important regional trade corridors and supports growing demand for integrated logistics solutions.

The warehouse covers 20,000 square metres and is equipped with 26 loading ramps designed to improve storage efficiency and streamline daily operations. The facility will handle a wide range of products across several key industry sectors including automotive, technology, industrial and chemicals, retail and consumer goods, and healthcare.

The new logistics hub forms part of DP World’s broader expansion strategy in the region. The company plans to increase its contract logistics footprint in Eastern Europe to 150,000 square metres of warehouse capacity by 2028.

According to Jacques Hartman, chief operating officer for contract logistics in Europe at DP World, Türkiye plays a central role in the company’s regional growth strategy. He explained that the Balçık warehouse benefits from its close proximity to DP World’s port terminals, allowing customers to reach both regional and international markets more quickly and reliably while supporting demand for integrated and cost effective supply chain solutions.

Daily operations at the facility are managed by a team of 70 logistics professionals using an integrated warehouse management system connected to DP World’s terminal operating systems. This integration allows precise coordination of inbound shipments, storage and outbound distribution while providing full operational visibility.

Sustainability has also been a key consideration in the design of the warehouse. The facility uses energy efficient handling equipment powered by lithium ion batteries, helping to reduce emissions and support greener logistics operations.

Balçık’s location in Kocaeli Province provides direct access to major transport corridors, industrial zones and the nearby Istanbul metropolitan area. Its proximity to DP World’s Körfez and Yarımca terminals in the East Marmara port complex ensures efficient connections to global shipping routes.
