Richter Kran- und Schwerlast GmbH has strengthened its lifting capabilities with the addition of a third Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 mobile crane. The nine axle, 750 tonne capacity crane will enhance the Leipzig based company’s flexibility for infrastructure, industrial and wind energy projects, sectors where demand continues to grow.
The investment reflects the strong order activity currently seen across multiple industries. Company owner Matthias Richter explained that the high number of ongoing projects made additional lifting capacity in this class essential. Martin Krusche, head of the crane department, noted that the LTM 1750-9.1 offers a combination of high lifting performance and rapid set up times, making it particularly suitable for bridge construction, transformer installations, industrial plant operations and work in the wind sector including repairs and dismantling.

The crane delivers increased load capacity through its Y shaped bracing system. Equipped with a luffing jib and optimised for wind turbine installation, the machine can achieve lifting heights of up to 156 metres. With three identical cranes now operating in its fleet, Richter has significantly improved its ability to manage multiple large scale projects while also responding quickly to scheduling changes.
According to Krusche, having several identical machines provides valuable planning security. If a project is delayed, the company can immediately deploy another crane of the same type to a new site without operational adjustments or additional planning related to transport permits.
The new crane entered service immediately after handover. Its first assignment took place in northern Bavaria, where it lifted plant components for a ceramics facility in Selb. Richter’s in house transport department had previously collected the equipment from northern Sweden using three heavy duty transporters, with individual components weighing up to 80 tonnes.

Following this operation, the crane travelled to western Germany to assist with the erection of a new wind turbine in the Bergisches Land region. A further project scheduled for March will involve dismantling eleven ageing wind turbines between Leipzig and Dresden.
With the latest addition, Richter now operates a fleet of 18 cranes ranging from 60 tonne models to 750 tonne units, alongside MK mobile construction cranes and an LTR 1100 telescopic crawler crane, all supplied by Liebherr.
