AF Offshore Decom has awarded BOA a contract for two float on and load in operations involving the floating storage unit ALBA and the floating production platform FPF 1. Both offshore units will be dismantled and recycled at the AF Environmental Base Vats facility.

Under the agreement, BOA will deploy its newly built semi submersible heavy transport barge Boabarge 39 to carry out the operations. The project marks the first commercial contract for the next generation barge, positioning it at the centre of major offshore decommissioning work.

Boabarge 39 represents the latest development in heavy marine transport and launching technology. The vessel measures 166 metres by 73 metres and has a deadweight capacity of 57,500 tonnes. It offers high deck load capacity and advanced ballasting systems, enabling submersion operations and the transport of large offshore structures. Its design is optimised for handling large displacement floaters while improving operational efficiency and environmental performance.

The barge is intended for complex offshore projects including rig and vessel docking as well as heavy cargo launching operations. Its deployment on the ALBA and FPF 1 projects highlights growing demand for specialised marine assets in the offshore decommissioning sector.

BOA described the award as a major milestone, noting that the contract confirms the market relevance of the newbuild asset. The company said it looks forward to working closely with AF Offshore Decom on the execution of the project and supporting safe and efficient recycling of offshore infrastructure.
