Athena Global Logistics has successfully completed a complex breakbulk shipment involving three power plant generators and associated equipment from India to Somalia, highlighting its expertise in handling heavy and project cargo.
The shipment comprised a total of 23 packages with a combined gross weight of 310 metric tonnes. The cargo originated in Gujarat, India, and was shipped via the Port of Loading (POL) Kandla, India, to the Port of Discharge (POD) in Mogadishu, Somalia.
At the heart of the consignment were three main generators, each weighing 85 metric tonnes, bringing the total generator weight to 255 metric tonnes. In addition, 20 packages of spare parts, totalling 55 metric tonnes, were included in the shipment. These parts consisted of compressors, panels, filters, pipes, chargers, and other accessories essential to the power plant’s operation.
Athena Global Logistics managed the full project scope with a focus on efficiency and reliability. Services provided included detailed planning, cargo carting, pre-inspection, stuffing, inland transportation, examinations, measurements, valuations, surveys, labelling, port handling, vessel agent coordination, under-hook movement, customs clearance, and sea freight.
