Höegh Autoliners joined the World Shipping Council (WSC) as a new member, further strengthening the Council’s representation of the global liner shipping industry, including the vehicle carrier sector.

“We are pleased to welcome Höegh Autoliners to the World Shipping Council,” said Joe Kramek, WSC President & CEO. He underlined that vehicle carriers are a core part of liner shipping and global trade, adding that Höegh Autoliners brings valuable expertise as WSC works with policymakers on safety, sustainability and effective global regulation.

Andreas Enger, CEO of Höegh Autoliners, said the company has invested decisively in a cleaner future through its Aurora Class newbuild project, positioning it as an industry leader in the shift toward zero-emission deep-sea shipping. He added that as trade patterns change and operating conditions become more complex, liner shipping needs policies that work globally. Joining WSC, he said, reflects Höegh Autoliners’ commitment to shaping practical global regulatory frameworks that support competitiveness, long-term sustainability and supply chain resilience.

WSC highlighted that every year, two-thirds of the value of global trade is transported on liner ships. The Council represents over 90% of global liner shipping capacity, spanning container, vehicle carrier and roll-on/roll-off services, and works with governments and international organisations to advance safe, secure and environmentally sustainable shipping.
