Bertling Atyrau has successfully completed the KTL Switchgear Upgrade (KSU) Project at the Tengiz Oil Field, delivering complex heavy-lift and project logistics operations under live plant SIMOPS conditions.
The project involved the transportation and installation of oversized substation modules and HVAC platforms, with the critical requirement of maintaining continuous HVAC operation throughout transport and laydown. A total of 16 units were delivered in four convoys, including 12 substation modules weighing up to 92 tonnes each and four HVAC platforms weighing approximately 8.6 tonnes each. The cargo was transported from PSI Almaty to the Tengiz Oil Field in Atyrau Oblast, Kazakhstan.
Despite long transport distances, challenging weather conditions and strict safety requirements within an operating oil and gas facility, the project was completed safely, on schedule and with zero safety incidents. The works were executed by the Bertling Atyrau Project Logistics and Heavy-Lift Team in close cooperation with project partners TCO, ALE and WoodKSS.
The successful execution of the KTL Switchgear Upgrade Project under live plant SIMOPS conditions highlights the importance of early planning, strong teamwork and close coordination between all stakeholders. It stands as a clear example of what can be achieved through shared commitment, technical expertise and disciplined execution in demanding oil and gas environments.
