WireCo, one of the global leaders in mission-critical wire and synthetic rope, netting and electromechanical cable, has announced that José Gramaxo, President of its Global Synthetics Division, will retire at the end of 2025. His departure will mark the conclusion of a distinguished 47-year career dedicated entirely to the roping industry.
Gramaxo said the decision did not come easily. “After 47 years, I felt the time was right to retire, although I’ve second-guessed the decision more than once,” he commented. He expressed his excitement for spending more time with family and reflecting on a lifetime committed to building a world-leading rope and netting business.
Until his planned retirement on December 31, 2025, Gramaxo will continue in his role to ensure a smooth transition. He will also remain involved with WireCo afterwards as an advisor to CEO Keith White.
“You simply don’t replace someone like José, a true icon in this industry,” said White. “His influence can be felt wherever ropes and netting are made, used or discussed.” White added that a strong succession plan has been developed over recent years to ensure continuity.
