DP World has announced a major expansion into Sweden, strengthening Europe’s connection to the company’s growing global logistics network. Opening in February, new freight forwarding offices in Stockholm and Gothenburg will link Swedish importers and exporters with key trade routes across the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America.
The development positions Sweden firmly within DP World’s worldwide network of 180 business units spanning 70 countries. The move is supported by regional partners including DP World-owned Foodtankers—marking 70 years of operations in Sweden, alongside Business Sweden, the national Trade and Invest Council, and local logistics providers across warehousing, first- and last-mile delivery.
Both offices will adopt DP World’s advanced Cargoes digital platform, enabling enhanced Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), improved visibility and streamlined customs processes for global trade.
Stephen Whittingham, Executive Vice President North Europe, said the launch will deliver tangible benefits for Swedish industry: “Our new operation in Sweden will connect businesses across the country with our global network, create new jobs, and continue DP World’s investment in sustainable, technology-driven logistics. Sweden’s culture of innovation, collaboration and sustainability makes it a natural partner for DP World’s next chapter in the Nordics.”
Bojan Knightly, newly appointed Country Manager, Sweden, added: “By establishing DP World in Stockholm and Gothenburg, we’re aiming to give regional customers a simpler, faster and more transparent way to move goods around the world. We look forward to further growth in Sweden and the wider Nordic region.”
The expansion aligns with DP World’s global ambition to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050. In its first year, DP World Sweden aims to transport up to 25% of shipments by rail and sea to reduce road emissions, while committing to 100% digital documentation and online invoicing to eliminate paper.
DP World Sweden will also support education and inclusion initiatives through its ‘Our World, Our Future’ sustainability programme, with plans to collaborate with Transportföretagen and Logistiknätverk Göteborg to accelerate skills development and innovation in the logistics sector.
