KJ Power Generator, one of Turkey’s largest genset manufacturers, has partnered with Volvo Penta to develop its first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for the rental market. The 540 kWh mobile unit is powered by Volvo Penta’s scalable, integration-ready battery system and designed to provide zero-emission, low-noise power for events, grid support, and industrial charging applications.
“We chose to work with Volvo Penta as it’s a trusted supplier with proven solutions and strong engineering expertise,” said Kadir Sümerkent, Vice President at KJ Power Generator. “After nearly a decade of collaboration on genset engines, this project marks the next step in our partnership toward sustainable power.”
Founded in 1996, KJ Power Generator produces thousands of gensets annually, exporting to over 90 countries. Its first BESS unit was unveiled at the company’s Istanbul factory on October 15, 2025.
Mehdi Kılıç, Volvo Penta’s General Manager in Turkey, said the BESS will deliver reliable, emission-free energy for events and construction sites while cutting noise and avoiding the need for costly soundproofing common with diesel gensets.
Leveraging Volvo Group’s electromobility platform, the battery system features a compact, energy-dense design with high IP-class protection.
“By expanding our partnership with Volvo Penta, we can now offer customers a flexible, efficient mobile energy solution that meets the growing demand for clean and quiet power,” Sümerkent added.
